Abu Dhabi development to generate thousands of new jobs

A new development in the financial heart of Abu Dhabi is expected to generate thousands of new employment opportunities.

Plans include new housing, six shopping malls and 30 public parks, Gulf News reports, quoting Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council general manager Falah Al Ahbabi.

Speaking to the news source, the leading government official explained that the Capital District project is a "monumental planning initiative" located between Khalifa A and B that is intended to cover 5,000 hectares and will involve work by highly-skilled engineers.

The development will include embassies, universities, residences, research facilities and an extensive public transport network.

Plans for the city may be of particular interest to those seeking finance jobs in Abu Dhabi, with Mr Al Ahbabi explaining Reem Island is expected to accommodate 200,000 people within the next five or ten years, becoming the emirate's financial hub.

The capital and federal capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi is the second most populous city with around 1.45 million residents and lies in the Persian Gulf.
